The STATEMENT “health is wealth” adds a large meaning to our life as health is most valuable and precious for every individual. Good health means not only a state of being disease free but it also means the individual is physically mentally and spiritually fit. and if it is not ..if the human is not fit either physically mentally or spiritually he will always remain irritated and that disturbs the human relations. if he is not well he can’t behave well. so health is the most important thing to a human being to survive in social life too. in schools the first standard students are taught health is wealth but the question arises- ‘is really health is wealth?’
life is a race and if you will run fast you will not be successful. in the dream of coming first human has left behind the needs of his own body. in today’s era every human is chasing his dreams and it is good to be passionate about your dreams but simultaneously is very important to give importance to yourself. without you there are no dreams.
few decades ago, people enjoyed their life. they used to think differently, they believed in enjoying the god gifted life rather than making it complex day by day. people were healthy at that time because they were tension free they were not tensed about winning any race they believed to live life by enjoying every colour of life. with the advancement of technology there are lots of gadgets for every work. a robot can replace ten humans. human don’t have to keep his feet down on earth.. there are gadgets for everything whether is household work on outdoors . so there is no physical movement of the body .the thing you need can be in front of your eyes in very next minute due to which in India especially obesity has taken a large place. even small children are suffering from obesity due to which he or she is not that immune and a large number of diseases surround him.
obesity is the root cause of many diseases. children get obese due to gene factor. and growing up they face many problems. obesity has a far ranging effect on human health. obesity leads to diabetes and more weight in body will require more oxygen and heart will have to pump fast so it leads to high blood pressure . obesity can lead to respiratory problems. it can cause mensural problems in girls.
Our environment plays an important role in our health. if you are living in a green environment then you will always be refreshed . a healthy environment contributes to good health but we live in an environment which is unhealthy due to over pollution .
in older times environment used to be a blessing but now it is a threat to human life with many dreadful diseases. in ancient times people were used to be relatively healthy.
each and every person in today’s world is running in the race of life. Today competition in each field is so intense that nobody can escape from the hectic schedule of life. considering health as secondary option and running towards dreams still people are not satisfied. they are working under stressful conditions. As a result they are suffering from many mental diseases. today people are whealthy but nor prosperous still not satisfied. people don’t have peace of mind.
we should “eat to live and not live to eat”. our health depends on the kind of food we eat . we should know how to eat and when to eat. we should take everything that is pleasing to your eyes, and tongue may not be pleasing to our body. it may or may not be healthy. to be healthy and cop up with our daily hectic schedule we have to eat healthier food. Diet should be simple and light rather than heavy, but it should be always rich and nutritious. to enjoy longevity of life one must include fresh fruits and green vegetables in his diet. green vegetables lower the probability of diseases like diabetes cataract heart attack etc. fast food and aerated drinks should be avoided to that extent upto which it is possible. Dietary habits of childhood are difficult to change afterwards. So mothers should refrain from overfeeding their children. one should make breakfast the largest and dinner the lightest meal of the day , should eat salad before your eat the meal, fast food and canned food are costly both for your pocket and your heart, as age advances eat less and exercise more.
one should exercise to keep himself fit.. Exercise are generally of two types, light and heavy. An ideal exercise is the one which facilitates the movement of each and every part of the body. exercise means each and every part of our body should be in movement till one hour. Walking, running, cycling, playing, swimming, gardening, skipping, weight-lifting and yoga are some common forms of exercise which keep someone fit. But going to gym for exercise is a fashion now.
as we exercise metabolic rate increases and that helps in the absorption of digested food. exercising also reduces extra weight and makes us active. Exercise is essential for both obese as well as weak people because it results in the loss of calories ultimately reducing the weight in case of obese and results in the weight gain in case of weak by increasing the appetite by stimulating the digestive system.
one should get 7-8 hrs of average sleep. it is the state when our nervous sytsem is relaxed and we get physically relaxed too. The requirement of sleep varies from one age group to another. In children the requirement of sleep is high, around 12-14 hours and the normal adult requires 7-8 hours of sound sleep daily. However adults nowadays are sleeping less because of busy schedules, night shifts and late night parties Physical well-being wholly depends upon a sound brain as all activities of our body are controlled by the mind. Any disturbance in the mind will disturb the body giving rise to various abnormalities. So a sound sleep is must for a healthy personThe quality and not the quantity of sleep is important, although 8 hours sleep is necessity for sound health.
Thus, balanced diet, regular exercise and sound sleep are the prerequisites for sound physical fitness and physical fitness is the key to a productive and successful life.
