Pollution, heat and a hectic life are the main contributors to unhealthy skin. Because of all the dust and smog that surrounds us; our skin has forgotten to breathe. When dust accumulates in our skin, it can give rise to a number of skin ailments like dullness, acne and blackheads. Washing your face with a face wash every night is not enough. You need something extra for your skin.
Skin problems like wrinkles, pigmentation, and acne, tanning or dulling are affecting a majority of the human population, including both men and women. Nowadays washing your face with soap or putting on some moisturiser is hardly sufficient to combat so many skin ailments. You need special treatments that target specific problems of your skin. Now you can go to a salon and spend loads of money on expensive treatments, or you can opt for natural treatments which you can do at home spending very little money. It is a fairly easy choice. Going the natural way saves your time and money, not to forget that it has no side effects. Treatments like laser or microdermabrasion can leave your skin red and itchy. But with natural products you don’t have to worry about those. The ancient system of Ayurveda contains a list of various natural ingredients, which when used correctly, work wonders for the skin. Here are a few remedies to tackle some specific skin problems.
Acne troubles nearly eight out of ten people in the world. It is probably the most common skin ailment that can happen at ages ten to even fifty. What you need is to follow a strict cleansing-toning-moisturising system everyday religiously. Wash your face at least twice a day with a natural cleanser made of besan, milk and neem. If you have active acne, don’t scrub your skin. These can aggravate the acne. You need to make a natural toner. All you need to do is boil some neem leaves, strain them and use the boiled water to wipe your face. Wait till it cools down, and then pour it in a bottle. Keeping it in the fridge makes it last for days. To make a natural acne clearing pack, mix one tablespoon sandalwood, a pinch of camphor, one tablespoon fuller’s earth and rose water to make a thick paste. Apply to the face and neck, keep for twenty minutes and wash off. Do this every other day of the week. You can apply this paste on only the acne lesions as well which would allow them to dry out quickly. If the skin feels too dry, use a natural honey and milk moisturiser to keep it supple. Eat healthy and drink loads of water. Follow this regime and you will notice a difference in a month.
Tanning happens every time we go out in the sun. Applying a high SPF sunscreen is a must but sometimes it may not be enough. After a long day in the sun, the skin looks dark and tired. To remove tan instantly, mix these ingredients together- grated cucumber juice (3 teaspoons), yoghurt (1 teaspoon), sandalwood powder (2 teaspoon), rosewater (1 teaspoon). Apply this paste evenly to the face, neck, arms or any other surface that has been exposed. Keep for twenty minutes and wash off. Keep the juice of one cucumber stored in the fridge. Wipe your face with the juice everyday at night. This will reduce the tanning to a large extent.
Pigmentation is starting to become a very common phenomenon among women, especially elder women. Pigmentation refers to dark spots on the skin caused due to sun rays, eating habits or hereditary reasons. If not addressed properly, it can spread to other areas of the skin. To combat pigmentation, sunscreen is a must. Additionally, applying the juice of a lemon also helps. Apply cold milk mixed with carrot juice on the specific areas every day. Once a week, use a pack made of rosewater, sandalwood, milk and lemon juice. Pigmentation marks don’t go away easily, so you have to be patient. This regime will definitely arrest the pigmentation and prevent it from spreading.
Dark circles primarily occur due to lack of sleep or hereditary problems. Whenever you apply a mask, cut round slices of the cucumber and place them on the eyes. Cucumber has a cooling effect on the eyes. Grate a half of a potato and apply the grated pieces on the eye area. Keep it for a minimum of thirty minutes and rinse off. If this is done thrice a week, the darkness and puffiness of the eyes would gradually go away. Apart from that, having eight hours of sleep every day is a must.
Nowadays, every woman complains of dull, tired and lifeless skin. But you don’t have to live with it throughout your life. Now you can do something about it. Make an uptan with grated dried orange peel, oatmeal powder, milk, besan and honey. Apply this all over the body and scrub gently. Keep for ten minutes before taking a bath. If this is done every day, your skin will be glowing and flawless in just a few days. Don’t forget to incorporate lots of fresh fruits and green, leafy vegetables in your diet.
So you see nature has a solution to all your skin problems. Give nature a chance and watch your skin glow in no time.
