Or you worked too hard last night, and feel too much tired to wake up at six and go for a morning walk or a jog? Well, it is the time to stop worrying and start caring. It is the time to start checking your cholesterol, blood pressure or heartbeat. It is the time to become a bit selfish, not for money but for health and fitness.
The present life style of ours does not allow us to participate actively in sports or physical activities. The invention of computers, internet and more and more highly advanced luxurious gadgets makes us work in the office for the entire day. Moreover, the worries, of the career of your children, of the work in the office or why the newspaper man did not turn up today, may land you in the risk of ignoring your own health.
Change in the mindset:
The first change needs to be brought in the mindset, by giving priority to health more than wealth. Healthy life style is much better than a wealthy, but unhealthy one. No doubt, wealth has its own importance, but the race to earn money should not surpass the need to maintain physical fitness. After this, it is important to bring a change in attitude towards various other things, like family and your own life. No doubt, you have been working really hard for a large part of your life and you’ve faced many hardships. But it is not the time to give up.
When the Sun rises:
Start your day early. Apparently, this line should be called the base of all the things. Ask yourself- Is it the fatigue of last day’s work or your every day’s laziness. A cool breeze in the morning has the ability to wipe out all your worries and make you fit. Scientifically speaking, the morning air is fresh, because of lesser traffic, and will improve your health. A slight walk or jog will come out naturally when you wake up at five. Slight yoga or exercises will improve the muscle flexibility and stamina, only for your good.
Not too much oil:
Another important aspect in maintaining your health will be your diet. Sitting on a chair for the whole day decreases the physical work considerably, and increases the weight. So, the least required is a healthy diet. Although constituents of a healthy and balanced diet vary from person to person according to his/her daily life style, but it must include some amount of vitamins, minerals, roughage and proteins. Your mother might have told you to eat lots of butter, but it is the time to listen to your health conscious wife. Do not take too much salt or sugar in your meals.
Also, drink lots and lots of water. Drink as much water as you can. Do not allow the shortage of water to decrease the amount of water to drink. Water constitutes about 70% of your body, and it is very important for smooth metabolic functioning. Drinking water just after you wake up helps cleaning up your body. Before you go to bed at night, a glass of water will decrease the risk of heart stroke while you are in sleep.
Moments of Fun:
Some light moments of fun and happiness spent with the family can bring togetherness and refreshing energy. Health is not always about loosing weight and running miles, it is also about laughing and worrying less. Your fitness of mind is as important as your fitness of body, because it is the mind which controls the whole body. And the controller must be fit and active.
Change your doctor:
This does not mean go from one doctor to another, or change your medicines. Nature has many things which are healthy and beneficial for our health. It is important to take medicines sometimes, but it is equally important to consider the side-effects of these medicines.
Regular and proper check-ups:
People from this age group are known to suffer from many diseases, credited to many factors including age factor. So it is really important to get regular health check ups. This allows the diagnosis of the disease at a very early stage, which is very beneficial, as allows the treatment timely.
Although awareness towards health should be maintained always, but fortieth year of life is very prone to some diseases. It is the time when the person is too busy in his career or children. Therefore, it is very important to maintain the level of fitness at this age.
